Bionyeri has launched a new service for testing the antioxidant capability of products using Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) assays.
ORAC tests provide a clear, comparable measure of antioxidant performance of products and is used for product development, benchmarking and quality checks.
The tests are conducted by scientists in our Sydney-based facility. Through our optimised process, they measure the antioxidant capacity of a product by testing how well a sample helps protect a fluorescent probe from oxidation caused by free radicals used in the ORAC assay.
When the testing is complete, we provide a report with the ORAC value – the higher the more effective the product – with a plain English interpretation.
Antioxidants are crucial for protection from free radicals that cause premature ageing and lead to chronic illnesses like cancer and heart disease.
Testing antioxidant capability through ORAC assays can be used for food and beverage products, supplements, cosmetics and personal care and botanical extracts.
